ICON Foundation shared last Friday, October 1, through its Twitter account, the details about its new update of the development roadmap.
“We are now closer than ever to achieving the ICON 2.0 mainnet upgrade. Additional testing is underway to err on the side of caution, but the migration process has already been thoroughly tested on local networks and we are now in close communication with nodes and exchanges regarding the details of the migration procedure. Our goal is to launch the mainnet by the end of October, which will happen through a network proposal. This will usher in the ICON 2.0 era”, he said through an article posted on the Medium platform.
According to the company, the exact height of the block for the transition will be set according to the progress of the network migration.
The company explained that, during the month of September, they have completed a personalized token transfer from ICON to BSC. Currently, we are finishing the transfer of custom tokens from BSC to ICON. We have also completed native token transfer contracts and these scenarios will also be integrated into the portal soon.
In addition, he indicated that they began to organize the Nexus portal in a live network. BTP smart contracts will first be deployed on the BTP testnet (https://icondev.io/introduction/the-icon-network/testnet#btp ). This is based on the latest goloop engine, the same engine that will be used in ICON 2.0. We will test these contracts against MoonBase (MoonRiver testnet) and the BSC custom node. Next, we will migrate the network to the official ICON 2.0 backbone, MoonRiver on Kusama, and the BSC backbone.
“Near Protocol is also close to the finish line. We have started unit and integration testing. We will try to have as much test coverage as possible and do a proper code review. We will also bring this integration to the Nexus portal immediately after”, he added.
The company recalled that, as they commented last month, they have been speaking with several potential BTP partners and we expect several more networks to join the BTP ecosystem. One thing that is also worth mentioning is that we are starting to get inquiries about integrating BTP from other blockchains, on a voluntary basis.
“This is how we envision the network should work. We at ICON will design BTP and build the first iterations for the core modules. Future partners should be able to extend this base architecture and code references to build their specific chain solutions”, he said.
