API3 announced last Friday, May 28, through its Twitter account, its integration with Moonbeam Network, to make APIs enabled for Airnode available to developers in Moonbeam, which helps to improve the availability of off-chain data for the Polkadot ecosystem.

“API3 has been integrated with Moonbeam, the project that simplifies the process for Ethereum applications to expand into the Polkadot ecosystem, making APIs effortlessly available for multi-chain applications. Moonbeam offers a full Ethereum implementation on substrate and allows Ethereum developers to implement existing smart contracts and dapp frontends on Moonbeam with minimal changes. Moonbeam benefits from lower gas costs than Ethereum and from Polkadot’s cross-chain functionality”, he said through an article posted on the Medium platform.
According to the company, part of the vision for API3 is to enable dapp developers to create dapps that mimic the rich functionality of Web 2.0 applications. In his view, most of the applications that people use only exist because of their ability to access a wide range of APIs. Providing dapp developers with tools other than pricing data is essential to enable this in Web 3.0, and as part of the integration, the company ensured that they will be able to offer Moonbeam developers access to the full library of Airnode-enabled APIs.
In addition, he highlighted that such integration also represents the first step on the road to implementing dAPI (data sources) in Moonbeam, to provide truly quantifiable and secure DAO aggregated data dapps.
“The future is multi-chain and Moonbeam is a great way for EVM dapps to get there. We are delighted to bring the API3 ecosystem to applications running on Moonbeam”, said Heikki Vänttinen, co-founder of API3.

About Moonbeam
It is an Ethereum-compliant smart contract platform on the Polkadot network that makes it easy to create interoperable applications natively. This Ethereum support allows developers to implement existing Solidity smart contracts and DApp frontends on Moonbeam with minimal changes. “As a parachain in the Polkadot network, Moonbeam will benefit from the shared security of the Polkadot relay chain and from the integrations with other chains that are connected to Polkadot. Currently in active development by PureStake, Moonbeam is expected to arrive on MainNet in the third quarter of 2021”, he said.
